Birdie was never a commercial brand name dreamed up in an office. It began as a term of endearment spoken over morning coffee on our Roan Hollow porch twenty-six years ago, rooted in ordinary home life and quiet domestic rhythms.
When store-bought detergents triggered chronic skin flare-ups, we turned back to traditional wash-trough recipes. What started in single gallon crocks for our household now fills pantries across the country with honest, pronounceable laundry staples.
Four Steps to Every Scoop
Cold-Curing Base Soap
Hand-Grating the Flakes
Mineral Trough Blending
Weighing into Amber Jars
We cure pure vegetable soap blocks for four weeks on open pine racks until moisture evaporates completely.
Each cured block is ground into fine snowy flakes that dissolve instantly in cold mountain spring water or warm wash tubs.
We gently fold natural washing soda and baking soda into wooden troughs using cedar paddles to maintain uniform consistency.
Every batch is scooped by hand into glass jars with a carved wooden measure, inspected for fine grain, and packed fresh.
No Synthetic Fragrances or Chemical Fillers
If an ingredient cannot be named in plain English or identified by touch, it has no place touching your family's daily clothing, cotton towels, or bedding.
Choose from three gentle scents or unscented pure flakes shipped directly from our workshop to your laundry room.
